iPhone X Plus Schematic Leak
Apple is said to unveil three iPhone variants this year, and leaks point at a budget 6.1-inch device with no OLED display and no 3D Touch. Another variant is expected to be the iPhone X successor with an OLED display, and the most premium will be the Plus variant with a 6.5-inch OLED display. Now, schematics of the budgeted 6.1-inch and the most premium 6.5-inch iPhone have been leaked. These schematics give us dimensions, and they also reveal some key new features that the tech giant is thinking of introducing this year.
These schematics were published by Forbes, and possibly the biggest news is that it shows the 6.5-inch iPhone X Plus with a triple lens camera at the back. All the three sensors are placed vertically, and this could mean some seriously good photos from the largest variant. Apple could go the Huawei P20 Proway with a primary, telephoto, and a monochrome lens at the back. However, the schematic leak could be wrong, and Apple may just stick to two lenses with one flash module in the middle. The report states that the 5.8-inch iPhone X successor will have two vertically stacked camera at the back, just like last year, and if Apple is to bring triple lenses, it will only be on the most premium Plus variant. According to the report, the 6.5-inch iPhone X Plus will have dimensions at 157.2 x 77.1 mm. This is a bit smaller than the 5.5-inch iPhone 8 Plus which had a footprint of 158.4 x 78.1mm.

Coming to the budget 6.1-inch iPhone, the schematics measure at 147.12x71.52mm. This is similar to the current 5.8-inch iPhone X which measures 143.6x70.9mm. The leak shows a single rear camera at the back, and a more pronounced notch than the other Plus variant. The report also states that the budgeted device will have the first generation Face ID, while the 5.8-inch and 6.5-inch iPhones will have second generation Face ID support.
Top Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo - currently with TF International Securities - said recently that Apple might cut prices of new iPhone models to debut later this year by as much as $300 (roughly Rs. 20,300). It is expected that the 6.1-inch LCD iPhone model will be priced between $600 (roughly Rs. 40,300) to $700 (roughly Rs.47,000), the 5.8-inch OLED iPhone will cost between $800 (roughly Rs. 53,700) and $900 (roughly Rs. 60,400), and the 6.5-inch OLED iPhone X Plus will be priced between $900 (roughly Rs. 60,400) to $1,000 (roughly Rs. 67,100).
Apple may adopt such an aggressive policy because of improvements in production yield and reduced prices of components. Also, Kuo claims that Apple is concerned over 'the negative impact of a higher price' in the already nearing saturation smartphone market.
Additionally, the 2018 models are expected to sport bigger batteries this time, come with USB-C fast charging accessories, and perhaps the biggest news of all, support dual-SIM functionality.

PornHub VPNhub for Secure Browsing Launched for Mobile and Desktop
Adult entertainment site PornHub has launched its own VPN service with free and unlimited bandwidth. Aptly named VPNhub, the virtual private network is meant to encrypt and secure data connections to protect users' personal information. It essentially keeps your browsing data confidential and makes it easier to bypass censors. The new VPN service works on smartphones as well as on desktops.
PornHub's VPNhub is available for download on Android, iOS, Windows, and macOS devices. Notably, the mobile apps offer a free ad-supported version with unlimited bandwidth. Also, the VPN encrypts information that users send across the Internet, essentially meaning that the tool can cover tracks when users watch or browse PornHub's content.
"A VPN, or Virtual Private Network, is a private network you can connect to over a regular Internet connection. When you connect to a VPN, all the data you send and receive becomes encrypted, protecting your privacy online. Another benefit of a VPN is that your virtual location can be modified, which can allow you to access geographically restricted content," PornHub said in a statement, describing its service.
The VPN service will be available in several countries, but it will be banned from countries the US does not do business with, such as Myanmar, Cuba, Iran, North Korea, Sudan, and Syria. Pornhub says that it has "had reports that our VPN might be blocked in" countries like Saudi Arabia, Egypt, and China.
Naturally, there is a premium option called VPNhub Premium and it is available in India. It is priced at Rs. 720 per month or Rs. 3,950 per year and you will not get any ads and will have faster connections. Notably, the site is providing a free 7-day trial. If you choose to create a VPNhub account after your purchase, then you can use your VPNhub Premium subscription on up to 3 devices, including iPhone, iPad, Android phones, and Android tablets. Notably, the Windows version and macOS desktop version are only for premium subscribers.
To use VPNhub, open it and tap on the lock icons in the middle of the screen. You will be virtually connected to the location of the server of your choosing and your data will be encrypted, PornHub says. You can then open your browser of choice and surf the Web securely.
In a quick testing by Gadgets 360, we found VPNhub to work as mentioned, as it successfully hid the IP address and enables access to sites blocked in the country. It is worth noting that users will be restricted to a US-based proxy, meaning as of now you cannot choose nodes globally.
EU GDPR Rollout: Complaints Against Google, Facebook Under New Privacy Law
A group that campaigns for data protection rights in Europe says it's filed legal complaints against Google, Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp over the way they obtain users' consent under new EU privacy rules - General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). Starting Friday, companies that collect or process the personal information of EU residents must comply with new rules that protect the privacy of people's data.
The group NOYB.EU - which stands for "none of your business" - claims its action could force the US Internet giants to pay up to EUR 7 billion ($8.2 billion). In a statement Friday, the group argued that the companies are making users' consent to their new terms of service a requirement if they want to continue using the service. Those who object have to delete their account.
Max Schrems, a veteran of legal fights against Facebook and chair of the privacy group, said this amounts to "forced consent," prohibited by the EU's GDPR rules.
The rollout of the General Data Protection Regulation has been welcomed but is also causing confusion. Companies are trying to understand what level of protection different data needs, whether this could force them to change the way they do business and innovate, and how to manage the EU's 28 national data regulators, who enforce the law.
That uncertainty, together with stiff penalties for violating the law, has convinced Internet-based businesses such as Unroll.me, an inbox management firm, and gaming company Ragnarok Online to block EU users from their sites. U.S. retailer Pottery Barn said it would no longer ship to EU addresses.
In Finland, the government says it has been contacted by households asking whether the law means they can no longer email invitations for a child's birthday party.
The Finnish Justice Ministry's Anu Talus told broadcaster YLE that the data privacy rules do not affect private households. The law only affects data that is intended for professional or commercial activities.
The broadcaster listed on Friday another case that had citizens puzzled. Should timetables for users of Finnish saunas, which show residents' names, be removed from the facility? Finland's Data Protection Ombudsman Reijo Aarnio said that was a "typical issue of interpretation," adding it was probably fine to assume that a sauna schedule can be visible.
Separately, the Los Angeles Times is freezing readers in parts of Europe out of its website as new privacy rules come into force across the European Union.
Web users in Germany who visited the site Friday got a notice saying the L.A. Times is "engaged on the issue and committed to looking at options that support our full range of digital offerings to the EU market."
It adds that the company is trying to "identify technical compliance solutions that will provide all readers with our award-winning journalism."

WhatsApp for iPhone Reportedly Gets Group Audio Calls; Android Users Receive Option to Select All Chats
WhatsApp for iPhone is said to have started receiving group audio calls functionality. This means that you'll soon be able to make voice calls to your multiple contacts directly through the instant messaging app. For Android users, on the other hand, WhatsApp has added a 'Select All' option that lets you easily mark all the new messages as read or archive all your chats with a single tap. The new change for iPhone users is apparently rolling through a server-side update, while Android devices need to have WhatsApp beta version 2.18.60 or above. The latest developments come just after WhatsApp for Android added a Media Visibility feature to let users hide or show their WhatsApp media content in the gallery. The Android version also received a new contact shortcut that was previously available for iPhones to help users easily add a new contact directly through the instant messaging app.
As reported by folks at WABetaInfo, the interface of group audio calls looks similar to what you presently have for individual audio calls. There are buttons to enable speaker, video call, and mute just below the profile pictures of the participants. The limit of participants for group audio calls hasn't been revealed. Alongside the group audio calling for iPhone users, WhatsApp beta for Android has received a new update that brings the useful Select All option. This new option lets you quickly mark all your unread messages as read or archive them at once. Further, you can also mute all the contacts from whom you've talked on WhatsApp using the Select all option. You can also quickly delete all the chats with this new feature.
To avail the latest experience, you need to get the WhatsApp beta version 2.18.160 or above on your Android device. Once you have the compatible version, select one of your chats on WhatsApp and then tap the action button from the top-right corner. After that, hit the Select all option. You can thereafter use actions such as Pin chat, Delete chat, Mute notification, Archive chat, or Mark as unread/ read.
YouTube Ban Ordered by Egypt Over 2012 Video 'Innocence of Muslims'
Egypt's top administrative court ruled on Saturday that regulators must block the video file-sharing site YouTube for one month over a video that denigrates the Prophet Mohammad, a lawyer who filed the case told Reuters.
A lower administrative court had ordered that the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology block YouTube, owned by Google, in 2013 over the video, but the case was appealed and its ruling stayed during the appeal process.
The ministry at the time said it would be impossible to enforce the ruling without also disrupting Google's Internet search engine, incurring potentially huge costs and job losses in the Arab world's most populous country.
The Ministry of Communications and Information Technology was not immediately available for comment. YouTube appeared to be working in Egypt on Saturday as of 1250 GMT.
The film "Innocence of Muslims", a low-budget 13-minute video, was billed as a film trailer and made in California with private funding. It provoked a wave of anti-American unrest in Egypt and other Muslim countries when it appeared in 2012.
Mohamed Hamid Salem, a lawyer who filed the case in 2013, said the ruling also orders that all links that broadcast the film be blocked.
The ruling is considered final and cannot be appealed.
Apple Working With Valve to Bring Steam Link App to iOS: Phil Schiller
Last week Valve claimed that its Steam Link app for iOS was rejected by Apple due to "business conflicts". Now it seems that Apple's Senior Vice President of Worldwide Marketing Phil Schiller has weighed in on the matter in an email that made its way to Reddit. In it he stated that the company cares "deeply about bringing great games" to the App Store and wants Valve's games and services to be on iOS and Apple TV. In addition to this, he shed light on the reasons behind Steam Link's rejection from the App Store.
"Unfortunately, the review team found that Valve’s Steam iOS app, as currently submitted, violates a number of guidelines around user generated content, in-app purchases, content codes, etc. We’ve discussed these issues with Valve and will continue to work with them to help bring the Steam experience to iOS and Apple TV in a way that complies with the store’s guidelines," Schiller's email reads.
Previously Valve issued a statement on the issue.
"On Monday, May 7th, Apple approved the Steam Link app for release. On Weds, May 9th, Valve released news of the app. The following morning, Apple revoked its approval citing business conflicts with app guidelines that had allegedly not been realized by the original review team. Valve appealed, explaining the Steam Link app simply functions as a LAN-based remote desktop similar to numerous remote desktop applications already available on the App Store," the companysaid.
"Ultimately, that appeal was denied leaving the Steam Link app for iOS blocked from release. The team here spent many hours on this project and the approval process, so we're clearly disappointed. But we hope Apple will reconsider in the future."
And while Schiller's email hints at the possibility of Apple reconciling with Valve, users have taken to Change.org with a petition to show Apple how much interest there is around bringing Steam Link to iOS.
Google to Host First Demo Day for Asian Startups in Shanghai
Google on Monday said it will host its first-ever Demo Day for Asian startups in China's Shanghai city on September 20.
Since 2014, Google for Entrepreneurs has organised Demo Days in the US and Europe for startups to connect with investors and scale globally.
"As our CEO Sundar Pichai announced earlier this year, this is the first time we're doing this in Asia Pacific, and we're excited to see some of the best ideas from the region," said Michael Kim, Partnerships Manager, Google for Entrepreneurs.
The Demo Day will bring together "investible" startup founders in Asia to pitch their business ideas on a global stage and connect with top regional and global investors, Google said.
The tech giant said that Demo Day Asia will give regional startups the opportunity to showcase and highlight their innovative technologies and drive investment.
The selected startups will receive mentorship and coaching from Google to deliver their pitch to a panel of distinguished investors in Shanghai.
If the startups are able to impress a panel of globally accredited and active investors, they will stand a chance to get funded and take up to $100,000 (roughly Rs. 67 lakhs) in Google Cloud Platform credits.
The platform will also give an experience of an immersion into the Chinese startup ecosystem by connecting with successful founders and community players, Google said.
To become eligible to participate in the Demo Day in Asia, the startups must be at least legally incorporated and headquartered in Asia, must have raised at least $50,000 (roughly Rs. 33.67 lakhs), and must be seeking to actively raise $1 million to $5 million within six months of the event.
The deadline to apply to participate is July 1, Google said.
Russia Asks Apple to Help Block Telegram
Russia's communications watchdog said Monday it had requested Apple help it block the popular messaging app Telegram which has been banned in the country for refusing to give the security services access to private conversations.
Roskomnadzor said it had requested that Apple both block push notifications for Telegram users in Russia, which would mean users would not receive alerts for new messages and thus render it less useful, as well as no longer make it available for download in the country.
"In order to avoid possible action by Roskomnadzor for violations of the functioning of the above-mentioned Apple service, we ask you to inform us as soon as possible about your company's further actions to resolve the problematic issue," said the regulator.
Roskomnadzor's director Alexander Zharov later told the Russian news agency Interfax that Apple had one month to reply and declined to speculate about what actions it could possibly take against the US firm if it refused to comply.
Last month a Moscow court banned popular app following a long-running battle between authorities and Telegram, which has a reputation for securely encrypted communications, as Moscow pushes to increase surveillance of Internet activities.
The app was created by maverick Russian programmer Pavel Durov, who has long said he will reject any attempt by the country's security services to gain backdoor access to the app.
The free app that lets people exchange messages, stickers, photos and videos in groups of up to 5,000 people has attracted more than 200 million users since its launch by Durov and his brother Nikolai in 2013.
Following the court ruling Roskomnadzor has moved to block the functioning of Telegram, but has acknowledged it has only succeeded in disrupting its operations by 15 to 30 percent.
It has also ended up disrupting other services, with Zharov last week accusing Telegram of using other online services as "human shields" by using their servers.
Zharov was also quoted by Russian news agencies as saying the ban against Telegram was justified as it had been used in the planning of all the latest terror attacks around the world.

Meizu 6T With 18:9 Display, Dual Rear Camera Setup Launched: Price, Specifications
Meizu 6T has been launched at an event in China. The new smartphone comes in three variants and is available in Black, Gold, and Red colour options. It features a thin-bezel display and a dual camera setup on the back. The Meizu 6T price in the Chinese market has been set at CNY 799 (approximately Rs. 8,500) for the 3GB RAM and 32GB onboard storage variant, while its 4GB RAM and 32GB onboard storage variant is available at CNY 999 (approximately Rs. 10,600) and the one with 4GB RAM and 32GB internal storage is priced at CNY 1,099 (approximately Rs. 11,600). All these variants will go on sale in the country starting Friday, June 1. However, details about the price and availability of these variants in other markets are yet to be revealed.
Meizu 6T specifications
The dual-SIM (Nano) Meizu 6T runs Android 7.0 Nougat with Flyme OS 6.2 on top and features a 5.7-inch HD+ (720x1440 pixels) In-Cell display with an 18:9 aspect ratio and 450 nits of brightness. It is powered by an octa-core MediaTek MT6750 SoC, coupled with Mali T860 GPU and up to 4GB RAM. The dual rear camera setup on the smartphone includes a 13-megapixel primary Sony IMX278 RGB sensor along with an f/2.2 aperture and a 2-megapixel secondary sensor with an f/2.0 aperture. On the front, there is an 8-megapixel camera sensor with an f/2.0 aperture. The smartphone also has Face AE technology and ArcSoft Beauty algorithm.
Meizu has provided 32GB and 64GB of onboard storage options that are expandable via microSD card (up to 128GB) in a hybrid configuration. The smartphone has 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n, Bluetooth v4.1, GPS/ A-GPS, and a Micro-USB. Sensors on board include an ambient light sensor, digital compass, gravity sensor, and gyroscope. Also, there is a rear-facing mTouch fingerprint sensor that is rated to recognise up to five fingers and has a response time of 0.2 seconds. The smartphone packs a 3300mAh battery. Besides, it measures 152.3x73x8.4mm and weighs 145 grams.
Samsung Galaxy A9 Star Leaked in Hands-on Video, Live Images Leaked Jagmeet Singh, 29 May 2018
The mysterious Samsung handset that was previously expected to debut as the Galaxy A8 Star Lite is now rumoured to debut as the Galaxy A9 Star. The handset with model number SM-G8850 has been spotted in a brief hands-on video. Interestingly, the model in question surfaced on China's 3C (Compulsory Certification of China) certification website earlier this month alongside the SM-G8750 model that was previously reported to come as the Galaxy A8 Lite. Some live images also leaked online that are rumoured to be related to the Galaxy A9 Star and Galaxy A9 Star Lite.
As per the hands-on video posted by SlashLeak folks on YouTube, the Samsung handset with SM-G8850 model number appears to have a glass back panel with Samsung branding and a fingerprint sensor. There is also a dual rear camera setup accompanied by an LED flash module. The front panel of the handset, on the other hand, shows a thin-bezel display along with an earpiece and a secondary camera. The appearance of the Samsung phone in the hands-on video matches the images that emerged on 3C website.
While the YouTube video doesn't confirm the product name, a Weibo post claimed that the SM-G8850 will be launched as the Samsung Galaxy A9 Star. The same model was earlier reported as the Galaxy A8 Star. It was also initially rumoured as the Galaxy S9 Mini.
Coming to the live images that have been posted on Weibo, the Galaxy A9 Star and Galaxy A9 Star Lite spotted with glass back panels. It is rumoured that the Galaxy A9 Star will come in Black and White colour options, while the Galaxy A9 Star Lite is said to come in Black, Grey, and Blue options. The Galaxy A9 Star Lite appear to have a metal frame and aesthetics of the Galaxy C Pro series that includes the Galaxy C5 Pro and Galaxy C9 Pro.

If we believe the Geekbench listing that emerged back in April, the Samsung Galaxy A9 Star will come with a 5.8-inch QHD+ (1440x2960 pixels) Super AMOLED display and will be powered by the octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 SoC, coupled with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of onboard storage. The smartphone runs Android 8.0 Oreo and packs a 3000mAh battery. Contrary to the Galaxy A9 Star, the Galaxy A9 Star Lite is expected to have a Snapdragon 450 SoC.
Vivo X21 Is India's First Smartphone With an In-Display Fingerprint Sensor: Price, Specifications, and More
Vivo X21 is powered by the Snapdragon 660 SoC, coupled with 6GB RAM
Vivo X21 has been launched in India at an event in New Delhi on Tuesday. The smartphone's biggest highlight is of course its under-display fingerprint sensor (aka in-display fingerprint scanner), making it amongst the first production smartphones to offer the feature. Other highlights of the Vivo X21 include its Android 8.1 Oreo-based operating system, and its 6.28-inch full-HD+ Super AMOLED display that is accompanied by a display notch containing the front facing sensors like the selfie camera and proximity sensor. The Vivo X21 is exclusive to Flipkartin India. It will compete with the likes of OnePlus 6 and Honor 10 in the Indian market.
To recall, the smartphone had first been launched by Vivo in China in March this year in two variants - the X21 and X21 UD - with the latter variant the one that sported the under-display fingerprint sensor. In India however, the Chinese company has decided to launch the X21 UD variant as the X21 itself. It is also among the first smartphones to be eligible for the Android P Beta (Developer Preview 2) that was released by Google at its I/O 2018 developer conference earlier this month. The Vivo X21 last weekwent up for pre-bookings ahead of the India launch.
Connectivity options on board the Vivo X21 include 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11ac (dual-band, 2.4GHz and 5GHz), Bluetooth v5.0, GPS/ A-GPS, Micro-USB with OTG, and a 3.5mm headphone jack. Sensors on board include an accelerometer, ambient light sensor, digital compass, gyroscope, proximity sensor, and the under display fingerprint sensor. It is powered by a 3200mAh battery, measures in at 154.45x74.78x7.37mm, and weighs 156.2 grams. It features the AKM AK4376A Hi-Fi chipset, continuing the tradition of the Vivo X-Series.

Honor 7X EMUI 8.0 Update Based on Android 8.0 Oreo Starts Rolling Out in India
When Huawei's sub-brand Honor began the Android 8.0 Oreo rollout for its Honor 7X last month, it was initially meant only for US users. Back then, the company promised a software update for Indian users as well, and that day has finally arrived. The Android 8.0 Oreo update alongside EMUI 8.0 has begun rolling out for Honor 7X users in India.
The Honor 7X update is arriving via an OTA, and since the update brings Android Oreo along with many new features. We thereby recommend you to install it under a strong Wi-Fi connection and good battery life (or better still, keep it on charge). Check for the OTA update manually by going to Settings > System > System update and then tapping on the Check for Updates option. It is also recommended to back up personal data before proceeding with the update process. The company has confirmed that the roll out is happening in batches to ensure smooth and seamless transition from Nougat to Oreo.
The Android 8.0 Oreo update for the Honor 7X brings quick shortcut menus from app icons that can be accessed by long pressing the app icon. Users can also drag a desired feature out from the pop-up menu to create a new shortcut on the home screen. Similarly, there is a floating navigation dock that can be accessed from anywhere on the screen. The new software version also includes a redesigned Settings menu and an updated Phone Manager that optimises the system based on usage patterns. The Honor team has also provided a photo gallery recycle bin that allows users to restore the photos and videos that they've accidentally deleted from the phone. It is worth noting here that the recycle bin retains deleted photos and videos for 30 days.
Alongside the major changes, the Android Oreo update brings a seamless LinkedIn integration that lets users sync the career details of their LinkedIn contacts directly with the native Contacts and Email apps. Users can also leverage the enhanced Bluetooth connectivity support within the Android Oreo-based EMUI 8.0 to simultaneously connect their Honor 7X with two Bluetooth devices.
To recall, the Honor 7X (Review) was launched back in December with Android 7.0 Nougat. The dual-SIM handset features a 5.93-inch full-HD+ (1080x2160 pixels) IPS display and is powered by a HiSilicon Kirin 659 SoC, coupled with 4GB of RAM. It has a dual rear camera setup - sporting a 16-megapixel primary sensor and a 2-megapixel secondary, depth sensor, along with PDAF and an LED flash. Besides, the smartphone comes in 32GB and 64GB onboard storage options and packs a 3340mAh battery.
Vivo Y83 With MediaTek Helio P22 SoC, Face Unlock Launched
Just days after the launch of the MediaTek Helio P22 chipset, manufacturer Vivo has already launched a smartphone powered by it. The new Vivo Y83 powered by the Helio P22 SoC is already available in China on the Vivo online store. The price of the Vivo Y83 smartphone is at CNY 1,498 (roughly Rs. 15,900), and it comes bundled with a protective case and earphones.
To recall, the Vivo Y83 was leaked earlier this month, and now the smartphone is official and already available in China. The smartphone is available in Aurora White, Polar Black and Charm Red colour options. It is seen sporting a premium glass body, with a glossy mirror finish at the back. The smartphone has a bezel-less display with a slight notch at the top of the screen for sensors and selfie camera.
As for the specifications, the Vivo Y83 runs on Android 8.0 Oreo based on custom FunTouch OS 4.0. The dual-SIM smartphone sports a large 6.22-inch IPS HD+ (720x1520 pixels) display with 19:9 aspect ratio. As mentioned, the smartphone is powered by a 2GHz MediaTek Helio P22 octa-core SoC. The new system-on-chip (SoC) is specifically designed for affordable smartphones and is touted to be the first to bring the 12nm manufacturing process to the budget smartphone market. The new SoC has ARM Cortex-A53 processing units, supports dual camera setups as well as artificial intelligence (AI) enhancements through MediaTek NeuroPilot. The chip is said to support common AI frameworks, including TensorFlow, Caffe, and Caffe2, and come with an auto-select function to support advanced features such as Face Unlock, and a Bokeh mode.
The Vivo Y83 pairs the processor with 4GB LPDDR3 RAM, and inbuilt storage is at 64GB further expandable via the dedicated microSD slot (up to 256GB). As for optics, the Vivo Y83 sports a 13-megapixel sensor with LED flash support and f/2.2 aperture. At the front, there is an 8-megapixel sensor that supports face recognition. Notably, there is no fingerprint scanning support on board.
Lastly, the Vivo Y83 smartphone packs a 3260mAh battery, and the dimensions of the smartphone measure at 155.21x75.24x7.7mm.
